The Polo season is well underway with the royal princes featuring across the media in recent weeks. And, whilst it may be the sport of kings, or even future ones, it doesn’t stop the annual “Visit Bawtry Polo Cup’ being one of the ‘must do’ social events of the Bawtry calendar.

“We are very much looking forward to another superb Visit Bawtry Polo Cup and to add to the £20,000 that we have already raised for Aurora Cancer Charity since the inception of the event five years ago,” commented Rebecca Dickenson Chair Bawtry Retail Association. “The Vanilla Rooms were last year’s winner and I was delighted to play, although this year I will be watching from the side-lines and letting other’s take to the saddle for the first time!”

This year’s novice player is James Cameron from The Glow Company who only started to learn polo a few months ago having never ridden before. He will be resplendent as his team’s Patron in fluorescent green shirt and red hat and supported by his wife and family Furthermore, experienced player Antonia Dowie, is proud to represent the Crown Hotel as patron of its team.
Visitors can watch in a variety of ways – by pre-booking tickets in the Robinsons of Bawtry VIP marquee, or by Walk-in or Park-&-Picnic. Meat & Vegetarian Pre booked picnic hampers are also available with a choice of wine or Prosecco by the Cheese Cave Deli – to book call Nicky on 01302 376366.

“It is easy to see why Polo is such a great sport to be involved in either on the field or from the sidelines.” said Rebecca. ‘We just want as many people as possible to come along, enjoy watching this rather unique sport and be part of the great social scene that accompanies it. There will live music in the Robinsons of Bawtry VIP marquee from the Vibe Jazz Band, Jack of Harps & the Dealers and following the winners presentation, Liberty Skank will be performing a party set adding a real party atmosphere to the proceedings.”
