POPULAR RESTAURANT EXTENDS INVITATION TO PENSIONERS IN BAWTRY

Chinese culture is peppered with festivals which celebrate special dates in the calendar. One is the ‘Chongyang’ which falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month and since 1989 has been the day on which Chinese people celebrate their elders with a festival of food, drink and outings.

With this in mind, China Rose restaurant, located in the picturesque market town of Bawtry, is opening its doors to pensioners in the town to enjoy a celebratory lunch, complete with 1940’s entertainment and music, all completely free of charge.

“Chongyang is a very important festival in our calendar and we thought that this was a fantastic way to celebrate and respect our elders in the town where we have had our restaurant for 30 years,” commented Carly Hui Restaurant Manager China Rose. “We look forward to welcoming around 100 guests on Sunday 18th October to enjoy our superb food and hospitality.”

Guests will enjoy a three course Chinese meal with tea or coffee and a complimentary drink on arrival. ‘Swingamathing’, an authentic 1940’s swing band, will bring the music and style of that time to life.

“Family is held in very high esteem in Chinese culture with the young and elderly receiving extra special attention,” said Carly. “Celebrating this traditional Chinese festival with our local community will be extra special and should be an afternoon that we will all remember for years to come.”

Guests can apply themselves or be nominated to attend, must be resident in Bawtry and be of pensionable age. Should transport not be available China Rose can arrange for this.

The event is from 12 noon until 4 pm. Lunch and arrival drink will be provided free of charge by China Rose. There will be a charge for any additional drinks.

If you would like to attend, or you know someone who you would like to nominate, please pick up a form from China Rose, call 01302 710461 or 711338, or download one HERE
